Be sure to check out part 1 first. I’ve had a few different people ask about donations. Donations are not necessary and they’re not even expected, but they are appreciated. If I’ve helped you fix your PS3 and you would like to donate you can do so here. www.paypal.com Thank you in advance if you do decide to donate. Even if it’s a dollar it’s very appreciated. After several requests, I’ve decided to put up a re-assembly video. You can find it here. www.youtube.com

  • @ak47deathstick I’m well aware of static electricity and I address that in part 3.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Dude why are you working on the Carpet?! It’s called static and if messes mobos up. You are not even grounded.

  • what actually fixed the Ps3
heating the board? or reapplying the thermal compond?

  • @duckbullard2011 i did it for 5 minutes on each square with a hair dryer so if you use a heat gun like you’re supposed to i imagine 2-3 minutes for each square

  • @highlyacclaimed did you put the memory ribbon in securely under the top case?
i had two red lights when I first powered it back up then I took it apart and saw that I completely missed that even after pausing the re-assembly vid on that part.
Im pretty sure that is what it is

  • I used a hair dryer and it worked !!!
once again thanks for the help djwhetzel
I followed every step to the T except for the heat gun
    I used a 250 V Hair Dryer

  • How long do you heat each section of the board?

  • I put it back together, only to get two red lights. Ikes. Maybe I didn’t plug something in well enough, or perhaps its because i couldnt get the corner of the ps3 case to click in, so i just screwed it tight :s
Regardless i’ll take another look, but if anyone has a good idea what might be the reason for the two solid light specifically, much would be appreciated.

  • Can I use etanol alcohol to clean the old thermal compound off?

  • hey, um.. i have it apart. is it ok to not put the thermal stuff on? or is it a must?

  • @MrInsanityGaming “Can toothpaste be thermal compound replacement??”

    lmao @ this.

  • @Blazin79Tigga I used my hair dryer a couple of inches away for 30 second in each place. It worked, but my hair dryer gets super hot.

  • Can i use my hair dryer ?

  • @vTriiGGaZz Well your options are 1. Try this reflow method. 2. Send your PS3 to sony. 3. Use your PS3 as a paperweight.
