@nr98001 Thanks I will definitely give Cinebench a try!
blakecottington says:
@KSIDavyjones Sorry no, but I think I’m going to do some more benchmarking soon so stay tuned!
eenofonn says:
@blakecottington the older camera is not an hd resolution so when the image is stretched it doesn’t maintain the aspect ratio. I really enjoyed this video by the way
nr98001 says:
I’m not sure what to think with these benchmark results. I’m almost inclined to think that they are just flat out wrong. No way that older graphics card could beat the new one they have in the imac. Just a suggestion… since you can’t use 3Dmark as it’s not available for mac to my knowledge, maybe try using Cinebench. I would be interested to see a video of Cinebench testing on the macbook pro’s and these two imacs if still possible. Maxon.net has it under downloads, and it’s free unlike 3Dmark

MyRandomReviews says:
Interesting, it seems that Apple have decided to move from desktop graphics to mobile graphics. Or at least that’s what the model numbers indicate {4850 vs 6770M}.
Not only is the 6000 series graphics a different naming structure (ie. the old 800 series is now the 900 series so the 5850 is comparable to the 6950) but they now seem to be using mobile (M) graphics chips.
The only explanation I can think of is the 4850 is a mobile graphics chip but with no indication on model number (ie. an “M”).
iTechTalks says:
are you in the freaken pentagon?!?!?!?
blakecottington says:
@benjaminhejhejhej Yes, that’s correct. But I still said the “FaceTime” camera on the new iMac was better because it looked sharper when I compared the two side by side. Can anyone else corroborate?
benjaminhejhejhej says:
In the specs in the video you write 1280×720 on the new one, and 1280×1024 on the old imac?
benjaminhejhejhej says:
The old imac has higher resolution on the camera?
KSIDavyjones says:
Do you play Starcraft 2? Because I want to get the 27in” model you have but I was wondering if it performs excellent in starcraft like if it can play in ultra or how FPS it can handle? Anyways great video!
brownviper13 says:
They should have made te iMacs standard with i7s. Disappointed at that, oh well can’t wait for my iMac to arrive! Woop woop
iBoarder88 says:

blakecottington says:
@chessdude67 Oh yeah also the shut down was nothing special. I had already clicked shut down before the clip started. Then I just pressed enter at the same time to confirm.
blakecottington says:
@chessdude67 Sweet! And I hear ya on the salsa. A bit of a weak entry, I admit, but I ‘ve got something good planned for next time!
blakecottington says:
@ioxapple World of Coke in Atlanta, but it looks like you can get it through various online venues, including eBay. Search for coke bottle cap mousepad.
blakecottington says:
@LaczupakabraPL Thanks! I don’t think it’s always been like that but I probably would not have noticed anyhow since I shut down only infrequently.
chessdude67 says:
I jumped from the early 2009 to the new 2011 i5 3.1GHz. Big improvement in every thing. I’m very pleased with it. It cost me $1999 – 100.00 for OSU discount and I saved $60.00 on Apple care. I just showed the salesperson at the Apple Store a business card (wife’s) that I could have made in 5 minutes.
Excellent video. I think you need to show some real food like your first video? Not a jar of some thing, lol. Still, very cool.
How did you shut down…short cut keys?
Thumbs Way up!

ioxapple says:
where did you get that mouse pad?
HaztaUK says:
@gamer1245 i agree
HaztaUK says:
the reason for that graphics decrease is because of the mobile chip they instaled in the new imac range
just saying …
