    Used this video to have a look at my laser after getting disc read errors for several weeks. Discovered a 3 inch hair coiled directly over the laser lens and have since then not had any problems. Thnx mate.

    @Supermodchips you know how ps3 were backwords compatible well if i have a ps3 that is not backwords compatible could i buy the backwords compatible laser or would i need mor than the laser

    The security screw at the beginning is removed with a Torx 10 screwdriver. Just figured it out.

    AS THE GUY IN THIS VIDEO STATES! “REMOVE THE DISC BEFORE OPENING” SAVES AN AWFUL LOTTA HASSLE! HAVE TO REALIGN THE ARMS IF YOU DON’T! SO DO!

    Great Videos, and foolproof way! But do watch and listen to the full 3 videos entirely first! I made the mistake of flicking through them and opened the drive without removing the disc first! Just causes a whole lotta pain later! Still got around it with the use of another tutorial, but was a right pain, opened ps3 about 8 times to succeed in the end, but would have had it done in 30mins if i hadda removed the disc first! So, i guess moral of my story is; REMOVE THE DAMN DISC BEFORE OPENING!

    If you have 2 PS3s 1 with broken blu ray and the other YLOD, can you just take the whole blu ray drive from the YLOD and put it in the broken blu ray PS3?
