find out how to actually fix you xbox with the link on my page!
faithxvoid says:
@560287144602817 So, if you’re still having problems after redoing the thermal paste and switching the x-clamps with bolts, I would check the tension on your bolts to make sure they aren’t too tight or too loose.
faithxvoid says:
@560287144602817 I know you don’t have the x-clamps, and that is fine. However, the point I was trying to make is if you don’t have the proper amount of tension on your nuts and bolts(i.e. too tight or too loose), you will run into problems with your xbox. This is a common problem when people attempt to do this fix.
560287144602817 says:
if its code0013 strip your xboxs clean all contacts on the entire mother board(methylated spirits and dry with a heater) take out the xclamps and use small rubber hose that will push on firm and hang about 1 mm over the studs that hang out your heatsyncs fit them and tighten until they STOP make sure ther is no movement between the heatsink the motherboard and the chassis any slack and it wont work dont pay someone if they are fucked you might aswell give it a try
560287144602817 says:
@faithxvoid i forgot to say I DONT RUN ANY X CLAMPS AT ALL I THREW THEM IN THE BIN as soon as a stripped the console they are shit its no wonder xboxs have this problem warping the motherboard you dont need them.
560287144602817 says:
@faithxvoid i disagree completely not to be a prick just because i do i noticed the xbox was made to be screwed in until it cant be anymore it needs good contacts.
560287144602817 says:
@faithxvoid mate it was shutting down i couldnt touch the heatsync for more than a few seconds but now that i have stoned it flat and got a much better contact i think it is allowing me to not use thermal paste after a bit of fine tuning ive been thrashing it turning it off and on fliiped it upside down and its still working basically i think the main issue with the 360 is the build quality next xbox you pull apart check the radius on the heatsync its not level it has poor contact, simple

I have to admit I’m inpressed, this is the opening cinematic I have watched. You could msg me on Xbox Live if you wanna destory some newbies, my user name = perston7286
faithxvoid says:
@560287144602817 …because a common mistake when attempting that fix is people putting the bolts on too tight which will also flag the xbox to malfunction.
faithxvoid says:
@560287144602817 thermal paste is a must because, without it, you’re not dispersing the heat off your processors evenly. In your case, it doesn’t sound like your xbox overheated because they have kill switches and would have cut off with 2 rings and a warning screen. In your case, I would strip the old thermal paste, go to radio shack and buy some Arctic 5 and slap a thin layer on your cpu and gpu. Other than that, I would check the tension on the bolts you used to replace the x-clamps…
560287144602817 says:
you sound like you might know something about electronics im a mechanic and have limited knowledge of computers but can understand and sometimes see how a system works,my friend gave me his old xbox#2with hdmi when he bought an elite i did a bit of looking on youtube then did my own mods basically i threw away the x clamps, stoned the heatsync level/smooth(the standard all have a radius) and used no thermal paste now it runs for 6 hours fine but turn it off and on and no good, residual heat?
jack390 says:

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH i bought the kid and did it myself it works better than new TYVM!
MuncieGameArmory says:
ALWAYS remove the old thermal paste. If you leave the old stuff on it will cause thermal failure. GUARANTEED. The point of the paste is to provide heat transfer from the chipset to the heatsink. Too much and it will not transfer heat fast enough if at all. Not enough, and there will not be enough contact between the chipset and the sink, causing near-immediate thermal failure.
